Display of Islamic art in Museum of Fine arts in Houston, USA
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) recently unveiled six additional permanent galleries in its Art of the Islamic Worlds wing.
An Iranian-born collector, Hossein Afshar, and al-Sabah Collection in Kuwait have provided most of the works on display.
The galleries present a selection of antiquities including manuscripts, ceramics, inlaid metalware and textiles from countries as diverse as Morocco, Spain, Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and India.
It should be mentioned that Houston has the largest Muslim population in Texas.
