The International Nonviolence Organization denounces Taliban’s recent decision to ban women from working for NGOs

The International Nonviolence Organization, Free Muslim, has strongly condemned the practices of the Taliban group and its recent decisions against Afghan women and preventing women from working in non-governmental relief organizations and institutions, appealing to the international community to play its humanitarian, moral and religious role in a manner that guarantees the rights of the Afghan people.

The organization also cited words of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq Al-Husseini Al-Shirazi, and his affirmation of the position of women in Islam, indicating that it is necessary for the Islamic community to treat women in the best manner.

Free Muslim stated in a statement received byShia Waves News Agency, that “a number of international humanitarian organizations announced the suspension of all its charitable and relief programs in Afghanistan, in protest against the Declaration of the Taliban banning the work of Afghan women in NGOs working in the country.”

The statement continued, “At a time when Afghanistan is going through a sharp humanitarian, living and economic crisis that casts a heavy shadow over millions of people in the country, the recent decision of the Taliban comes within a series of shocking decisions that aim to deprive women of their most basic rights such as education and work.”

It added that this act “is a clear violation of religious values and international laws, not to mention that it may put some areas on the brink of starvation as a result of the defect that will affect humanitarian relief operations due to the implications of these irresponsible decisions.”

The organization pointed out that “Taliban’s recent positions to target Afghan women in their education and work fall within the framework of the use of violence against women and the practice of discrimination on them, which makes them a crime against humanity, which requires the international community to confront them and take deterrent measures to stop them immediately, and to mobilize global efforts to pressure the group to take back its decisions and adhere to the provisions of international and humanitarian legitimacy.”
