Hyderi Islamic Centre Arbaeen Walk

The Hyderi Islamic Centre in London will be having their Arbaeen walk on the 3rd and 4th September 2022 from 11am – 5pm, to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

The walk hopes to bring the experience to those who are unable to go to Iraq this year or even to the ones who want to relive the experience again, but in London.

The walk symbolizes a peaceful utopia where no one is hungry or homeless, people give out free water and drinks and even offer their homes to the pilgrims.

The Hyderi Islamic Centre will replicate the mawkibs (service tents) found on the way to Karbala, and give out free food, water, tea, and provide other services such as shoe shining and rest areas. There will also be an opportunity to sign the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) which will then be taken and presented at his Holy shrine.

The walk will finish off with a re-enactment of the night of grief, aka Shaam Gharibaan, and matam ( chest beating).
