India refuses to offer an official apology for insulting the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his progeny

The Indian authorities have refused to provide an official apology for the offensive statements about the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his progeny, considering that the offensive tweets and statements do not in any way reflect the government’s view.

The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the statements of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, following the insulting statements to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his progeny, by two employees of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the country.

The Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Arindam Bagshi, said that India categorically rejects the unjustified and narrow-minded comments issued by the Secretariat of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, noting that New Delhi accords the highest degree of respect to all religions, as he put it.

He claimed: “Tweets and comments insulting to a religious figure were made by certain individuals and do not in any way reflect the views of the Government of India.”
