A Chinese lady has recently converted to Islam at Imam Redha Holy Shrine, in Mashhad, Iran.
Ms. Xang, the newly converted Muslim lady who preferred to be named Elham, said: “I grew up in Western China and I traveled and became acquainted with Islam through the Muslims living in this city. I became interested in knowing more about their religion, customs, culture and rituals.”
She pointed out that getting familiar with Muslim religious beliefs gave her a new perspective on morality, the purpose of creation and God, and that the mourning of the people for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, inspired her to read about the Infallible Imams, peace be upon them.
On her first visit to Mashhad she said: “Today, when I attended the holy shrine of Imam Redha, peace be upon him, the feeling of chastity and purity of heart was the only sensation I felt inside.”
Elsewhere, referring to the propaganda of some political trends toward Islam and Muslims, she called the increasing tendency to Islam, not only the reflection and the influence of this divine religion, but also its profound impact on non-Muslim minds.
The newly converted Muslim lady received a few gifts including a copy of the Holy Quran, several books in Chinese language along with a prayer chador and a prayer rug.
