A US judge has ordered anti-Muslim activist Laura Lomer to pay $125,000 to cover trial costs, after she lost a case against the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
US media reported that a social media activist managed to persuade Lomer to file a lawsuit against the Florida branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), claiming that the council conspired with Twitter to ban it from the site in 2018.
Subsequently, Lomer filed the lawsuit alleging that the Council of Relations conspired with Twitter to take actions that resulted in the violation of her rights.
A federal judge dismissed the allegations late last year but appealed the ruling, only to find that the new judge found the case not based on any facts or evidence, and ordered her to pay $125,000 to cover legal fees and costs incurred by the Council on Islamic Relations.
It is reported that Lomer is also banned on the platforms Clubhouse, Uber and Lyft due to her racist posts towards Muslims.
