Human Rights Watch calls on Saudi Arabia to stop sentences issued against women
Human Rights Watch called on Saudi leaders to annul all charges, convictions, and sentences issued against women’s rights defenders.
The organization’s deputy Middle East director, Michael Page, said, “The new evidence proves the kingdom’s involvement in the brutal torture of women’s rights defenders and prominent detainees.”
Page said leaving those involved in torture without accountability helps them to escape punishment.
Page called on Saudi officials to take urgent steps to stop these crimes and hold the perpetrators to account at the highest levels.
