Head of the UN mission on Hodeidah urges de-escalation

The United Nations has expressed its concern about the continuing clashes in al-Hodeidah province, in light of 131 new violations.
A Yemeni military source reported that the Saudi coalition forces had monitored 131 violations on the Hodeidah fronts during the past 24 hours, including the creation of combat fortifications in al-Jabaliya and 3 airstrikes by fighter spy planes on al-Faza and al-Jabaliya, in addition to 29 violations with missile and artillery shelling and 78 violations with different bullets.
The source added that the Saudi coalition warplanes launched an air strike on the Harib al-Qaramish district in Marib, northeastern Yemen, and 4 raids on the Mahliya district and another on the Rahba district in in eastern Yemen.
The head of the UN mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement, Abhijit Guha, said, “There are disturbing reports that there has been a significant increase in clashes in Hayes and Durayhimi, south of the coastal province in western Yemen,” adding, “The escalation of clashes contradicts the parties’ commitment to cease fire and the resulting civilian casualties. This is unacceptable.”
Guha added, “We will do our best to remind the parties of their obligations under the Hodeidah agreement and international humanitarian law,” and urged the parties in Hodeidah to stop the escalation before it causes more harm to civilians.
