Saudi nationals reportedly comprise the biggest number of the foreign terrorists arrested during Iraqi army operations against the Takfiri Daesh terror group in the northern and western parts of the country.
The London-based New Arab news website cited an Iraqi Interior Ministry official as saying that the number of foreigners arrested during battles with the outfit in those areas had risen to more than 400. Those, the source said, hailed from Arab, European and Asian countries, adding that Saudi detainees came on top, numbering 51. Other detainees included Moroccans, Egyptians, Jordanians, Lebanese, Syrians, Chechens, Tajikistanis, Turks and Pakistanis, it added. The source and Mansour al-Baiji, an Iraqi lawmaker, said the arrestees will not be extradited and will instead stand trial in Iraq as they were involved in crimes against Iraqis. The Riyadh regime has been widely accused of providing the Daesh terror group with ideological and financial backing.
