UK Muslim-Led ‘Hold On’ Campaign Raises Awareness of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
————————————-
A nationwide Muslim-led campaign promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention has received widespread support from Islamic communities across the United Kingdom, bringing together mosques, religious organisations and mental health professionals to encourage early intervention and challenge the stigma surrounding psychological distress.

According to Asian Image, the campaign, titled “Hold On”, aims to connect spiritual guidance with professional mental health care, offering people experiencing emotional difficulties a supportive environment in which to seek help. Backed by more than 36 Islamic organisations, including the Muslim Council of Britain, the initiative has reportedly reached hundreds of thousands of people through educational activities and online platforms.

As part of the campaign, dozens of mosques have dedicated Friday sermons to themes including hope, compassion, emotional well-being and collective responsibility towards people experiencing psychological distress. Religious leaders have encouraged congregations to approach mental health difficulties with understanding rather than judgment, while emphasising the importance of seeking appropriate professional support when needed.
