Sudan: Displacement Exceeds 8.5 Million as Famine Fears Grow
————————————————–
The humanitarian crisis in Sudan continues to worsen, with the International Organization for Migration reporting more than 8.5 million internally displaced people amid ongoing conflict and deteriorating living conditions.

Food insecurity is also intensifying, with around 40% of the population reportedly facing acute hunger. Humanitarian organizations have warned of growing famine risks, particularly in Darfur and Kordofan, where conflict, displacement and restricted access to essential supplies are deepening the crisis.

Damage to infrastructure, declining agricultural production, drought and disruptions to aid deliveries have further limited access to food, medicine and shelter. Women, children and other vulnerable groups face heightened risks of malnutrition.

The situation has prompted renewed calls for an end to the violence and safe, unhindered humanitarian access to prevent further displacement and worsening hunger.
