Pakistan: 18 Militants Killed in Separate Operations in KP, Balochistan

Pakistani security forces eliminated 18 militants in separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, Pakistani state media reported Wednesday, as authorities continue operations against militant groups across the country.
Thirteen militants were killed in an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan, according to security sources cited by state media. Pakistani authorities identified the militants as members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which the state refers to as “Fitna al-Khawarij.”
In a separate operation in Mastung district of Balochistan, security forces killed five militants, state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported. Authorities said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site, while clearance and search operations continued in the area.
Separately, police said they foiled an attack on a police checkpoint in Shadipur, in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Seven police personnel were injured when unidentified militants opened fire on the checkpoint, prompting a police response that forced the attackers to flee. A search operation was launched to locate the assailants.
The latest operations come amid a broader increase in militant violence in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Dawn, citing data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, reported that KP recorded 54 militant attacks in August, up from 36 in July.
