Threats Against Mosques, Muslim Institutions Raise Security Concerns Across US
—————————————
A series of bomb threats, death threats and other acts of violence targeting Muslim communities and Islamic institutions across the United States has heightened security concerns among mosques and Muslim organizations.
A security bulletin reviewed by the Shia Muslim Foundation recorded 38 reported threats and attacks against Muslims and Islamic institutions between January and September 2026, while cautioning that the figure does not represent every incident nationwide. The organization has urged mosques and Islamic centers to strengthen emergency procedures, maintain communication with law enforcement and ensure that staff and volunteers are prepared to respond to credible threats.
The Shia Muslim Foundation has encouraged Islamic institutions to document threats, preserve threatening messages and social-media posts, establish relationships with local law-enforcement agencies and regularly review emergency procedures. The organization said such measures are intended to improve preparedness while allowing mosques to continue serving as places of worship and community life.
