Islamic Book Fair Draws Large Crowds in Bangladesh Capital

An Islamic Book Fair held in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka has attracted significant interest from readers and visitors interested in Islamic literature, bringing together a wide range of religious, historical and cultural publications.

According to the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BBS), the month-long fair opened on September 12 and will continue until October 11. The event features 144 stalls representing 206 organizations, including local and international publishers.

More than 100 publishing houses are displaying and selling books at the fair, including works from seven international publishers from countries such as Lebanon, Egypt, Pakistan and India.

The exhibition features a diverse collection of publications covering Hadith, the biography of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), Islamic research, history, cultural studies, as well as religious and moral books for children and young readers.

Organizers reported that visitor numbers increase significantly in the afternoon, particularly after the Asr prayer. While attendance is relatively lower in the morning, crowds and book sales rise later in the day.

One of the fair’s main attractions is the “Seerah Exhibition” organized by the Wafa Hafiz International School, which presents the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) through 13 projects designed to engage younger generations.

The program also includes discussion sessions, author meetings and book launch events featuring writers, readers and publishers. Facilities at the fair include separate seating areas for women and a dedicated children’s corner.

The Islamic Book Fair remains open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with extended hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on public holidays.
