Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Highlights Lady Fatima’s Special Religious Status

A daily scholarly session of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadegh Hosseini al-Shirazi was held on Thursday, 27 Rabi al-Awwal 1448 AH, during which the Supreme Marja answered attendees’ questions on a range of jurisprudential and religious matters.

Addressing a question about the status of Imam Ali and Lady Fatima al-Zahra, peace be upon them, in relation to the other Imams, His eminence said that religious evidence and narrations indicate that Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is superior to the other Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

He added that Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her) holds the next position in terms of excellence, followed by Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn, peace be upon them.

Regarding Lady Fatima’s status, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi explained that although she did not hold the position of Imamate, she nevertheless possessed a distinctive rank as a hujjah (divine proof) over the Imams who came after her and over the people.

His remarks emphasized the special religious and spiritual status attributed to Lady Fatima al-Zahra within the teachings and narrations cited in the session.
