Nepal Islamic Association Continues Flood Relief Efforts Despite Transport Challenges

The Islamic Association of Nepal has continued its humanitarian response for families affected by widespread flooding across the country, overcoming logistical difficulties caused by damaged roads and disrupted transportation networks.

A delegation of Islamic leaders and association officials, led by Dr. Shamim Ahmad Riyazi, reached flood-affected areas in Nuwakot District carrying relief supplies for families struggling with the aftermath of the disaster.

The aid campaign comes as Nepal continues to deal with the severe humanitarian impact of the floods, which reports say have killed more than 1,300 people, with others still reported missing.

The association emphasized the role of Nepal’s Muslim community in supporting disaster relief efforts, saying it has continued humanitarian activities during crises, including floods and earthquakes, while providing assistance to affected people without discrimination.

The organization has also begun sending a second shipment of aid after completing preparations. However, its departure was delayed for two days due to deteriorating road conditions, ongoing flooding, and difficulties finding suitable transportation capable of reaching remote affected areas.

Relief teams were eventually prepared to travel alongside the new shipment to deliver as much assistance as possible despite continued challenges on the ground.

Nepalese authorities praised the humanitarian efforts, while the association expressed appreciation to donors, volunteers, and teams involved in organizing and delivering the aid.

The Islamic Association said it would continue coordinating with relevant authorities and expanding relief operations according to the needs of affected communities, particularly in areas where access to basic services and essential supplies remains limited.
