Montenegro: The Opening of the First New Mosque in Pljevlja in Nearly 120 Years

A new mosque has been officially inaugurated in the village of Odjak, near the city of Pljevlja in Montenegro, marking the first mosque built in the region in nearly 120 years. The event has been described by organizers as a historical milestone for reviving the Islamic heritage and strengthening the religious presence of Muslims in the area.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by a large number of Muslims and local residents, in addition to several religious and community figures. They participated in the opening ceremonies of the mosque and celebrated the completion of the project.

Rifat Fejzić, the head of the Islamic Community in Montenegro, stated that the opening of the mosque is a significant achievement for the Muslims of Pljevlja and Montenegro. He expressed his gratitude to all the entities, individuals, and donors who contributed to the construction and completion of the project.

Meanwhile, Dr. Enes Pelidija, during a speech on the occasion, emphasized that the opening of the mosque constitutes a historic moment for the region. He noted that it embodies the resilience of the Muslim community and sends a message of hope for a future based on coexistence and stability. He expressed his hope that the mosque would be a starting point for a new phase of construction and development.

Participants also praised the efforts of the Islamic Community in Montenegro and its head, Rifat Fejzić, as well as Omer Kajoshaj and his associates, in addition to the donors and supporters who contributed to the completion of the mosque.

The inauguration ceremony concluded with the honoring of the institutions and individuals who contributed to the project by awarding them certificates of appreciation. The Assistant Head of the Department of Preaching and Education, Rahman Kačar, delivered the closing prayer, asking Almighty God that the mosque serves as a beacon of faith, knowledge, and benevolence, and as a service to the community.
