An Islamic center in Cincinnati, Ohio, was recently targeted in an attack that caused significant property damage and raised concerns among local community members, according to media reports.

The Westwood Islamic Center was reportedly broken into after individuals smashed a window and bypassed security barriers. Inside the facility, the attackers vandalized areas of the building, damaged equipment, disrupted a food storage area and stole surveillance devices.

Shaker Nashib, president of the center’s board of directors, said the incident marked the third break-in at the facility in six years. He described the attack as a “wake-up call” and urged community members not to respond with fear, but to remain united and resilient.

Local officials condemned the incident. Cincinnati Vice Mayor Jen-Michel Limón Kearney described the attack as an unacceptable act of hatred and said authorities would work to ensure accountability.

Religious leaders and community representatives who attended a meeting following the incident emphasized the importance of protecting religious freedoms and standing against hate and discrimination.

The Islamic center is planning to request that the Cincinnati City Council formally condemn the attack and is seeking financial support to repair the damage and replace stolen equipment. Community members have called for increased cooperation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
