The residence of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi in the holy city of Qom, Iran, hosted mourning gatherings to commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), drawing a large attendance of religious scholars, seminary students, and followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

The ceremonies were held on 20 Safar 1448 AH, corresponding to August 4, 2026, to mark the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and to commemorate the sacrifices of his family and companions and the enduring values embodied in the uprising of Karbala.

The gatherings were attended by prominent scholars, representatives of senior religious authorities, seminary students, cultural and community figures, and large numbers of worshippers who came to renew their commitment to the principles for which Imam Hussein gave his life.

The program included religious lectures examining the historical, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions of the Karbala uprising, as well as elegies and recitations recalling the tragedy of Karbala and the hardships endured by the Prophet’s Household (peace be upon them).

Participants emphasized that commemorating Arbaeen serves to reinforce Islamic values and strengthen devotion to Imam Hussein’s legacy, describing the annual observance as a living continuation of the message of Karbala and its enduring principles of justice, steadfastness, and resistance to oppression.
