Pakistan Monsoon Floods Death Toll Rises Above 100 as Authorities Warn of More Rain

At least 107 people have died and hundreds more have been injured in Pakistan due to heavy monsoon rains and flooding since late June, authorities said, warning that further rainfall is expected in the coming days.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that rain-related incidents have also damaged hundreds of homes across the country. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of fatalities with 55 deaths, followed by Punjab with 36. Officials said more than half of the deaths were caused by building and roof collapses.

Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous province, has been among the worst affected areas. In Lahore, authorities established relief camps for evacuated residents, while officials warned that extensive flooding had affected large areas of the province, particularly around Lahore and Gujranwala.

Emergency teams have been deployed to assist affected communities and remove floodwaters, according to Punjab authorities. The Pakistan Meteorological Department said most major rivers remain at normal or low flood levels, although the Ravi River is currently experiencing medium-level flooding.

Forecasters warned that a new period of heavy rainfall could begin later this week in upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other northern regions.
