Karbala Hosts “Ashura Camp” to Educate Young Women Ahead of Arbaeen Pilgrimage

The second edition of the “Ashura Camp,” organized by Asrar al-Ghadir Institute in Karbala, has brought together young women for a five-day educational and cultural program focused on the teachings of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), combining religious studies, psychological workshops, and artistic activities ahead of the Arbaeen pilgrimage season.
The program was held during the final week of Muharram 1448 AH, with the participation of young women aged between 17 and 25. The five-day camp aimed to strengthen religious knowledge, deepen understanding of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and provide a structured educational environment for the younger generation.
The main focus of the camp was the study and explanation of the book “Al-Khasa’is al-Husayniyya” (The Special Virtues of Imam Hussein) by Sheikh Jaafar al-Shushtari, a work highlighting the virtues, characteristics, and spiritual status of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
Alongside the religious sessions, participants took part in psychology classes and artistic workshops designed to support personal development and cultural awareness. Organizers said the program also included a special focus on Mahdism, preparing a group of young female educators to participate in Arbaeen service processions and share religious messages with pilgrims.
As part of the initiative, organizers printed 1,000 copies of a booklet titled “Ziyarat Arbaeen: A Path Toward Relief”, focusing on Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his noble reappearance), the culture of awaiting his advent, and prayers for his reappearance. The booklets are intended to be distributed among Arbaeen pilgrims.
At the conclusion of the camp, copies of Al-Khasa’is al-Husayniyya were presented to participants to encourage continued study and engagement with religious literature.
Organizers stated that the project will continue throughout the year as an ongoing effort to nurture a knowledgeable and committed generation inspired by the values of Ashura and the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
