Despite Extreme Heat, Arbaeen Pilgrims Continue Walking in Scorching Sun Toward Holy Karbala

Large crowds of Arbaeen pilgrims continue their journey on foot toward the holy city of Karbala, enduring high temperatures and intense sunlight as they travel long distances from Iraq’s southern provinces to commemorate Imam Hussein’s (peace be upon him) Arbaeen.

After crossing Basra Province and passing through cities and districts in Dhi Qar Province, large numbers of pilgrims reached Muthanna Province, where areas including Al-Daraji, Al-Khidhir, the center of Samawah, and Al-Rumaitha District witnessed a growing flow of pedestrians heading toward the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), the Master of Martyrs.

The scenes of the procession include Husseini banners, groups accompanied by horses, and large gatherings of men, women, and families who continue their march despite the harsh weather conditions and the challenges of long distances.

As the number of pilgrims increases, Husseini service processions along the roads have mobilized their resources to provide cold water, beverages, food, rest areas, and various other services to help pilgrims continue their journey safely.

The ongoing movement of pilgrims through Muthanna Province represents one of the defining scenes of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, as visitors remain determined to reach holy Karbala despite difficult weather conditions, expressing their devotion to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and renewing their commitment to the principles of his eternal uprising.
