Al-Abbas Holy Shrine Launches Comprehensive Service and Digital Plan for Arbaeen Pilgrims

The Alawi Holy Shrine has announced a comprehensive service, religious, and technological plan to receive pilgrims attending the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), introducing expanded accommodation, guidance, and digital services to support the millions of visitors expected to arrive in Najaf.

The plan includes the opening of more than five luggage storage centers, the establishment of eight accommodation tents, the installation of drinking water distribution points and hundreds of air coolers, and the rehabilitation of both mobile and permanent sanitation facilities to improve services along the routes leading to the shrine.

As part of its digital initiatives, the shrine has unified the lost-and-found database with other holy shrines and supporting agencies to accelerate efforts to reunite missing pilgrims with their families. It has also upgraded services through the “Wafid” mobile application, which enables volunteers to register for pilgrim service, and launched an online cultural and religious competition to run throughout the first 20 days of Safar.

The shrine has further expanded its religious guidance services by establishing Islamic legal consultation stations inside and outside the shrine, supervised by qualified scholars, with separate facilities for men and women. Thousands of free religious and cultural publications are also being distributed to promote Islamic awareness among visitors.

Officials said all departments of the Alawi Holy Shrine are continuing to implement the integrated plan to provide efficient religious, humanitarian, and organizational services while ensuring a suitable environment for pilgrims performing the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
