Shia Muslims and followers of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) in Montreal, Canada, commemorated the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her) with a mourning ceremony held at the Iranian Islamic Center of Montreal.

According to Shia Waves Agency, the spiritual gathering began with the preparation of a blessed votive table dedicated to Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her), followed by congregational prayers and the recitation of the Holy Quran.

During the ceremony, speakers highlighted the hardships endured by the family of the Prophet (peace be upon them) after the tragedy of Karbala, emphasizing the lessons of patience, perseverance and resistance reflected in the life of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her).

The mourning event concluded with elegy recitations, chest-beating rituals and the distribution of food to attendees.
