Thousands of mourners gathered in Damascus on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her) for a symbolic funeral procession near her holy shrine. The ceremony recalled the hardships endured by the captives of Karbala and the tragedy of the family of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in Sham.

According to Middle East News, videos and images from Syria showed large crowds participating in the procession, accompanied by mourning chants and chest-beating rituals as devotees expressed their grief and devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

In Karbala, the area between the two holy shrines hosted a large mourning table dedicated to Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her). The event included Quran recitation, visitation prayers, elegies and religious poetry performed by Hussaini reciters.

The ceremony also featured a theatrical presentation depicting scenes from the events of Karbala and the suffering of the Ahl al-Bayt captives in the ruins of Sham. Children wearing green clothing participated in the program to remember the young daughter of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). The mourning table was decorated with symbolic elements representing the hardships of Ashura, including candles and desert thorns.

In Tal Afar, Nineveh province, the Imam al-Askariyayn Procession organized a mourning gathering to mark the occasion. The event included Quran recitation, the visitation of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), a religious lecture about Lady Ruqayyah’s life and patience, a theatrical performance about Karbala, and Hussaini mourning poetry.

Organizers said the gathering was held as part of efforts to preserve Hussaini traditions and promote the spiritual and humanitarian values associated with the legacy of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

Meanwhile, the house of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadeq al-Husseini al-Shirazi in Qom hosted a mourning gathering on the fifth of Safar, marking the anniversary of Lady Ruqayyah’s martyrdom. The ceremony included a speech by Hujjat al-Islam Haeri about the suffering of the young daughter of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), with attendees mourning and praying for the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi and the wellbeing of Muslims worldwide.
