Uganda School Bus Crash Death Toll Rises to 24

The death toll from a school bus crash in eastern Uganda has risen to 24, including 23 students and one adult, after three more children died from their injuries, police said.
The accident occurred Thursday night in Kapchorwa district when a bus carrying pupils and teachers from King David Junior School in Kampala overturned after the driver lost control and struck a large stone.
Dozens of students were taken to hospitals, with several injured children still receiving treatment. Police said investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, while the identities of some victims have not yet been confirmed.
Uganda’s Ministry of Education has suspended school trips nationwide pending a review of safety measures following recent crashes involving students. Authorities have also announced plans to provide escorts to help ensure safer transportation for learners.
Uganda continues to face serious road safety challenges, with accidents frequently linked to poor road conditions, vehicle maintenance issues, and speeding.
