The Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) Cultural and Charity Foundation in Basra has launched its humanitarian “Water Distribution” initiative as part of its service programs for the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

As part of the project, the foundation has distributed 60,000 bottles of drinking water to pilgrims through several Hussaini service stations (Mawakib) located along the pilgrimage routes.

The foundation’s head, Sheikh Sadiq al-Basri, said the initiative responds to the increasing need for drinking water among pilgrims, especially amid high temperatures that require greater water consumption during the Arbaeen walk.

He added that the project is among the foundation’s humanitarian efforts to serve visitors of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), inspired by the guidance of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, who emphasizes supporting pilgrims and promoting a culture of generosity and service during this religious occasion.

Al-Basri noted that the foundation will continue the project in three phases, distributing additional quantities of water to more Hussaini Mawakib in order to meet pilgrims’ needs along the roads leading to the holy city of Karbala.

The “Water Distribution” project is part of a wider range of humanitarian and service initiatives carried out by charitable organizations across Iraq to support Hussaini Mawakib and provide assistance to millions of pilgrims participating in the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
