Malaysia has ranked first in the latest State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2025–2026, strengthening its position as a global leader in the Islamic economy.

According to the report by DinarStandard, Malaysia topped the rankings in halal food, Islamic finance, and halal pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. It also ranked second in media and recreation, fourth in Muslim-friendly travel and modest fashion, and placed among the top four countries across all six sectors covered by the report.

The report said global Muslim consumer spending across the six key Islamic economy sectors reached $2.6 trillion in 2024 and is expected to rise to $3.56 trillion by 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.5 percent.

Malaysia also recorded strong growth in halal product trade, with imports reaching $30.64 billion, a 12.41 percent year-on-year increase — the highest growth rate among the top 10 halal product importers in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The report highlighted new investments supporting Malaysia’s role as a regional halal manufacturing hub, including projects in halal bakery production, seasoning manufacturing, and expanded halal-certified facilities.

In Islamic finance, Malaysia recorded a 12 percent rise in assets and a 13 percent increase in Islamic fund value, supported by a $300 million sukuk issuance by Permodalan Nasional Berhad.
