Entry Ban Imposed on New York Mayor’s Adviser in Occupied Territories

Israeli authorities have barred Linda Sarsour, adviser to New York Mayor Zahran Mamdani, from entering the occupied territories over alleged links to the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement, Hamas.

According to Tawasul News, Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority acted on recommendations from the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism.

Amichai Chikli, Israel’s Minister for Diaspora Affairs, claimed that Sarsour was among the leading figures behind demonstrations in the United States in support of Hamas after October 7, the date marking the beginning of the hostilities.

In response to the ban, Sarsour said she was excluded because of her advocacy for human rights. She described Israel as a “murderous apartheid regime” and called on the United States to end its financial and military support.

A political activist of Palestinian origin, Linda Sarsour is known for her role in organizing various demonstrations, including civil rights protests and campaigns against police violence.

She also supports the BDS campaign against Israel and left the Women’s March organization in 2019 following controversies related to accusations of antisemitism.
