27 Countries Participate as Eid al-Ghadir Week Opens in Holy Najaf

The Holy Alawi Shrine has announced the launch of the 15th edition of Eid al-Ghadir Week in holy Najaf, with participation from 27 countries and the raising of the Ghadir banner at nearly 150 locations inside and outside Iraq.
Haider Rahim, head of the shrine’s media department, said the International Eid al-Ghadir Week is one of the most prominent religious and cultural seasons organized by the Holy Alawi Shrine to mark the anniversary of the declaration of the Wilayah of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him.
He said the program aims to promote the values of loyalty, unity, justice, and connection to the life of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, through religious, cultural, artistic, public, and service activities.
According to the shrine, this year’s edition will witness the raising of the Ghadir banner in around 150 locations, compared with about 90 locations in previous years.
Participating countries include Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Finland, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania, the Czech Republic, France, Austria, Iran, India, Pakistan, Australia, Lebanon, Thailand, Türkiye, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, China, Kenya, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Egypt.
The week’s activities will also include Quranic, cultural, public, and service programs, as well as a major outdoor theatrical performance titled “Al-Bay‘ah ila al-Haqq”, featuring more than 500 actors, artists, and technical staff. The show is scheduled to continue for 15 days, with a venue capable of hosting 5,000 people.
