Canada Imposes Temporary Entry Ban on Residents from Three African Countries Over Ebola Outbreak
——————————————
Canada announced on Wednesday that it has imposed a temporary entry ban on residents arriving from three African countries as part of precautionary measures to reduce the risk of Ebola spreading to its territory.
In an official statement, the Canadian government said the decision applies to residents coming from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan. The ban will take effect today and remain in place for 90 days.
Canadian authorities said the measure is temporary and preventive, aimed at stopping the transmission of the virus inside the country amid continued reports of new Ebola infections and rising health alerts in several affected African nations.
The Canadian decision follows similar steps taken by the United States, which recently imposed restrictions on the entry of non-citizens who had visited the three countries, amid growing concern over the possible spread of the virus.
Ebola is a highly dangerous viral disease transmitted through contact with contaminated bodily fluids. It can cause severe health complications, including heavy bleeding and organ failure, prompting several countries to strengthen health monitoring at borders and airports.
