Global Islamic Coalition Warns of Rising Islamophobia and Anti-Muslim Attacks

A coalition of Islamic and human rights organizations has warned of a growing wave of Islamophobia and anti-Muslim attacks, calling for urgent international action to confront hate speech, discrimination, and violence targeting Muslim communities.

According to reports citing the Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, the coalition said recent attacks on Muslims and Islamic institutions are not isolated incidents, but part of a wider global trend in which anti-Muslim hatred is becoming increasingly normalized.

The coalition pointed to a recent attack on a mosque in San Diego, saying the attackers were reportedly inspired by previous anti-Muslim attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand; Quebec, Canada; and London, Canada.

Rights activists have warned that the rise in anti-Muslim violence is linked to racism, white supremacist ideology, and hostile media and political narratives in some countries.

CAIR officials said anti-Muslim extremism has moved beyond hate speech into direct violence, while also criticizing the silence of some political leaders in the face of Islamophobia.

Reports also indicate that thousands of complaints related to religious discrimination and Islamophobic incidents were recorded in the United States in 2025. Studies have further shown growing support in some Western societies for policies such as mosque surveillance and increased security restrictions on Muslims.

The coalition urged governments, media organizations, and human rights bodies to work together to prevent the spread of hatred and protect Muslim communities from further violence and discrimination.
