Millions of Shia pilgrims from different Iraqi cities and several countries arrived in the holy city of Karbala to mark the Day of Arafah at the shrine of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.

The pilgrims performed the special Ziyarat of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and took part in the recommended acts of this blessed day, including the recitation of Dua Arafah and prayers for forgiveness, relief, and the fulfilment of the needs of believers.

According to the report, security and service measures were prepared to receive the visitors, while the servants of the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and Abal-Fazl al-Abbas, peace be upon them, remained fully mobilized to assist pilgrims.

The Arafah supplication ceremony was held in Karbala with the participation of large crowds from different countries. Many pilgrims gathered not only near the holy shrines but also along the roads leading to them, sitting, standing, praying, and seeking forgiveness from Almighty Allah.

According to Islamic narrations, the Day of Arafah is among the most virtuous days of the year for repentance and answered prayers. The Ziyarat of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, is also considered one of the greatest recommended acts on this day.

Religious teachings state that whoever visits Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, on the Day of Arafah with recognition of his right receives immense reward, including the reward of accepted Hajj and Umrah and struggle in the path of truth.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi has previously emphasized the special status of Karbala, saying that narrations describe the land of Karbala as having a rank greater than the Kaaba and that, on the Day of Arafah, divine mercy first turns toward the visitors of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, before the pilgrims at Arafat.

The Arafah supplication ceremony from holy Karbala was broadcast live through the six television channels of Imam Hussein Media Group.
