The office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi announced that Monday, May 18, 2026, corresponds to the first day of the sacred month of Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH.

This announcement is based on recognized Islamic jurisprudential criteria for sighting the lunar crescent.

Dhu al-Hijjah is one of the four sacred months in Islam, marked by heightened spiritual and religious observances.
