According to Russian media reports, around 100 companies from countries including Afghanistan, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan are displaying halal-certified food, clothing, cosmetics and other products at the exhibition.

Russian trade officials said Afghanistan imported halal products from Tatarstan worth more than $30 million during the first four months of this year, marking a sharp increase compared with the same period last year.

A delegation from the Taliban administration, led by Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadeem, also traveled to Kazan to attend the economic forum.

Russian officials previously said several economic agreements involving fuel supplies, agricultural products and infrastructure investment in Afghanistan could be signed during the forum.

Russia has expanded economic engagement with Afghanistan in recent years despite ongoing security concerns and international sanctions linked to the Taliban administration.

Russian officials have also warned that tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan have slowed some planned regional economic projects involving Afghanistan.
