Syrian Security Forces Targeted in Attack West of Hasakah

Several members of the Syrian security forces were killed and injured after gunmen opened fire on a bus carrying security personnel in the countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.

On Monday, an attack took place in the rural area west of Hasakah, when the bus, belonging to the 64th Division of the Syrian Arab Army, came under gunfire from unknown assailants. The attack resulted in fatalities and injuries among the personnel, leading to heightened tensions and security alerts in the region.

Local sources reported that the attack led to the deaths of three Syrian security personnel. Meanwhile, Syria’s Ministry of Defense, through its Media and Communication Directorate, confirmed that “two Syrian security soldiers were killed, and others were injured, as a result of a treacherous attack by unknown assailants on a security personnel bus west of the Al-‘Alya silos in the Hasakah countryside.”

The statement also noted that the relevant authorities had initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the attack, although no further details were provided regarding the identity of the perpetrators or the group responsible for the incident.

Hasakah province has witnessed sporadic security tensions and targeted attacks on military and security forces, amid a complex situation on the ground with multiple military factions operating in the area.
