New York City Hall hosted its first collective Ramadan iftar inside the building, attended by the city’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, along with representatives of the Muslim community and local officials.
The iftar gathering was organized in one of the halls of City Hall, where the mayor met with Muslim community representatives as well as municipal officials in an atmosphere of dialogue and social connection during the holy month of Ramadan.
During the event, attendees performed prayers before sitting together for a communal iftar meal that brought together participants from different backgrounds. The gathering was described as the first event of its kind to be held inside the city’s municipal headquarters.
Organizers said the iftar aimed to strengthen engagement with New York’s diverse communities. The city is home to a large and varied Muslim population, and the event was seen as part of broader efforts to foster communication and cooperation among different social groups.
