AMU Holds Mourning Gathering to Commemorate Hazrat Fatima Zahra

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) hosted a mourning gathering on Thursday to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Sayyada Fatima Zahra (peace be upon her). The event was organized jointly by current and former students and opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Muhammad Akhtar.
The program included a marsiya by Syed Danish Zaidi, pesh-khwani by Kashif Naqvi, and a noha recited by Ronak Abbas Rizvi Hallauri. In his keynote address, Hujjatul Islam Maulana Haider Mehdi underscored the significance of knowledge and education, noting that Hazrat Fatima Zahra (peace be upon her) embodied devotion while also fostering an influential educational model.
He said her teachings shaped prominent figures who contributed to justice, courage, and moral guidance throughout history. Maulana Mehdi called for applying her educational principles in today’s world. The gathering drew faculty members, including Prof. Asghar Ejaz Qomi, along with students, alumni, and other attendees.
