Sudanese Doctors Report Mass Graves and Burned Bodies in El-Fasher, Urge International Probe
……..
Sudanese medical organizations have reported alarming atrocities in the city of El-Fasher, where paramilitary forces are accused of burying hundreds of civilians in mass graves and burning bodies—actions described by doctors as systematic genocide.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Sudan Doctors Network (SDN) accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of collecting large numbers of bodies from streets and neighborhoods across the city.
The group alleged that the RSF buried some victims in mass graves and incinerated others in what it called “an attempt to conceal evidence of crimes against civilians.”
The network warned that the violence in El-Fasher has escalated from a humanitarian disaster to what it termed “systematic genocide,” targeting human life and dignity. It also condemned what it described as “the international community’s silence,” saying such inaction amounts to complicity in grave violations of international and moral norms that safeguard the dignity of the dead.
The SDN urged urgent international intervention and demanded an independent investigation into the reported atrocities, stressing that “RSF crimes cannot be erased by burying or burning.” The group called for accountability and documentation of evidence before it is lost.
These developments follow the RSF’s capture of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, on October 26. Human rights groups have since reported ethnic-based killings during the takeover. The conflict between Sudan’s army and the RSF, which erupted on April 15, 2023, has left thousands dead and displaced millions across the country.
