…………..
Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), has introduced a Quran memorization program tailored for students in technical and engineering fields. The initiative, launched at the start of the 2025/2026 academic year, aims to nurture a generation of professionals who combine technical expertise with Islamic values.
The program was inaugurated by UniMAP Vice Chancellor Zuleiman Sauli, who also held a briefing for parents. The first cohort includes eight students from engineering and electrical, electronic, and mechanical technology faculties. According to Sauli, the initiative integrates religious and technical education, enabling students to maintain Quranic and Arabic proficiency while advancing in areas such as engineering and artificial intelligence.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed the program, stressing the importance of equipping young Muslims with both Islamic teachings and modern technical skills. He highlighted government support through financial aid and scholarships for students pursuing Islamic studies alongside engineering and medicine, helping graduates remain competitive while preserving cultural and religious identity.
