The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Pakistan’s Punjab province has arrested 89 terrorists in 940 intelligence-based operations conducted over the past three months, Dawn reported. The operation is part of an ongoing effort to prevent and investigate terrorism following a recent increase in terror attacks across the country.

The arrested individuals belong to several militant groups, including 55 from Fitna al Khawarij (Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan), five from ISIS, and two each from Al-Qaeda and Hizb-ut-Tahrir. The arrests took place in multiple cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur.

During the operations, the CTD seized a significant amount of explosive materials, detonators, and other items. Authorities reported that the suspects had been planning attacks on important buildings in several cities. The CTD has registered 87 criminal cases and is continuing its investigations.
