Sudan and South Sudan Face Worsening Humanitarian Crises
——————————
The United Nations is warning of an escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where growing ethnic violence, famine, and disease are threatening millions of lives. According to a report from the Shia Waves Agency, citing Al Jazeera, the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 2023 has already resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced millions.
The conflict has intensified with a rise in targeted violence, drone attacks, and summary executions, particularly in North Darfur.
Meanwhile, in neighboring South Sudan, a severe crisis of malnutrition and communicable diseases has been exacerbated by a decrease in international aid, along with widespread violence and corruption.
