A new eight-part documentary series, “Untold Stories: Bosnia”, produced by London-based filmmaker Muhammad Isa, sheds light on the legacy of the Bosnian genocide and the ongoing struggle to preserve the memory of its victims.

The series documents the testimonies of survivors of the Srebrenica massacre alongside the voices of Muslim activists, aid workers, journalists, and fighters who witnessed the atrocities. It seeks to preserve Bosnia’s Islamic identity and heritage for future generations, while underlining the importance of Muslim unity in the face of oppression and discrimination.

In interviews, Isa stressed that the documentary is not only about the Bosnian war but also symbolizes Europe’s broader struggle with its Muslim communities. He said the project highlights the need for solidarity among Muslims worldwide against injustice.

Media outlets such as al-Araby al-Jadeed and Balkan Insight have noted the series’ role in promoting historical awareness and encouraging intergenerational dialogue. Analysts emphasized that by recounting personal experiences in an intimate way, the series delivers a powerful reminder of the psychological and social scars left on Europe’s Muslim population.

Beyond individual memories, “Untold Stories: Bosnia” explores Bosnia’s Islamic cultural heritage and its role in shaping Muslim identity across the continent. The documentary also draws parallels with ongoing crises, including Gaza, to stress that remembrance and resilience are universal struggles for Muslims today.

By amplifying untold accounts, the series underscores the role of art and media in protecting religious and human identity, offering younger generations insight into a history that must not be forgotten.
