UK media company Reach, owner of newspapers such as The Mirror and The Express, has announced it will cut 600 jobs due to changing audience habits and the growing impact of artificial intelligence.

According to The Guardian, 321 editorial staff will lose their positions. Reach’s Chief Content Officer described the move as the biggest restructuring in the company’s history, stressing that newsrooms must adapt their storytelling and content production methods.

At the same time, Reach said it will create 135 new roles. The company’s workforce, which stood at around 5,500 in 2018, has now shrunk to fewer than 3,500 employees.
