Islamic Center in Japan Hosts Fifth “Open Mosque Day” in Tokyo
……………
The Islamic Center in Japan, in collaboration with Tokyo Mosque, organized the fifth edition of the “Open Mosque Day” event on Saturday. This initiative aims to introduce Japanese society to Muslim culture and daily values.
Held on the first floor of Tokyo Mosque, the event featured open dialogue sessions between visitors and Muslims, alongside a mini halal food festival offering a variety of dishes from different global cuisines to highlight Islamic dietary customs.
The Islamic Center emphasized the role of mosques in Japan, particularly Tokyo Mosque, as key cultural and interfaith platforms beyond places of worship. Activities conducted in Japanese and shared social programs help build trust and mutual understanding, fostering the mosques’ position as cultural and civilizational hubs within Japanese society.
Open Mosque Day targets Japanese-speaking non-Muslims, providing a direct opportunity to engage with Islamic culture and community through practical and conversational interaction.
