Commemorations of Holy Prophet’s Martyrdom Held in Multiple Countries Under the Auspices of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi

Commemorations marking the martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) were held across several countries under the auspices of the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq Hussaini Shirazi. The gatherings drew scholars, clerics, cultural figures, and large numbers of believers.
In the holy city of Qom, Iran, the honourable residence of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi hosted a major mourning ceremony on Friday, August 22, attended by senior clerics, representatives of other religious authorities, seminary students, and the general faithful.

In Basra, Iraq, the Supreme Marja’s local office organized a joint mourning for both the Prophet and Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (peace be upon them both). Religious scholar Hujjat al-Islam Sayed Montazer Maqsousi delivered a lecture highlighting aspects of the Prophet’s life and virtues.

A parallel ceremony was held in Damascus, Syria, beginning with Quran recitation, followed by a sermon from Sheikh Mustafa Sharaf on the Prophet’s mission and enduring legacy.
Beyond the Middle East, commemorations extended to Mahajanga, Madagascar, where the Ahl al-Bayt Center organized a memorial with Quran recitation and religious programs attended by local followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

In Kadhimiya, Iraq, the Rasul al-Azam Cultural and Charitable Foundation distributed food offerings among pilgrims and held its annual mourning gathering. The event opened with Quranic recitation and Ziyarat of the Prophet, followed by elegies delivered by reciters Thaer Kazemi and Mustafa Khazali.
These observances underscore the efforts of His Eminence in reviving the name and the rituals associated with the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure family), as a symbol of mercy, justice, and guidance.
