Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Charity Is Not Limited to the Poor
———————————–
Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Hussaini Shirazi emphasized that giving charity (ṣadaqah) is not restricted solely to the poor, but also applies to anyone who requests assistance.

Speaking during his daily scholarly session on Saturday, 21st of Safar 1447, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi responded to questions from attendees on various jurisprudential matters. Addressing the ruling on charity, he stated: “It is not necessary for a person to give charity only to the poor. Even if someone stretches out their hand and asks for help, one may give to them, and such an act is still considered charity, even if the person is not poor.”

He further explained that assisting these individuals carries spiritual benefits for the giver, and the act retains its merit as ṣadaqah.

His Eminence underlined that the principle of charity is broader than commonly understood, encouraging generosity towards anyone in need of support or seeking help, regardless of their financial status.
