Armed Attacks Kill 13 Security Personnel in Nigeria’s Zamfara State

TRT Global reported that armed gangs, commonly referred to as bandits, killed 13 security personnel, including policemen and vigilantes, in Nigeria’s northwestern Zamfara state amid ongoing violence. The attackers ambushed security forces pursuing them after a raid on a village in the Bukkuyum district, where several residents were abducted.

The bandits, who have long terrorized communities across northwest and central Nigeria, frequently carry out village raids, kidnappings, and arson, often forcing inhabitants to flee.

The group is believed to operate from forest camps housing thousands of militants, maintaining a persistent threat to local security. Efforts to retrieve the victims’ bodies have been hindered by the bandits’ continued presence in the area.

Despite repeated peace agreements between authorities and the gangs, attacks persist. Local officials have called for aerial operations as a necessary measure to dismantle bandit camps and restore safety to affected communities.
