Over 700 Hotels in Holy Karbala Prepared to Welcome Arbaeen Pilgrims
……………..
More than 700 hotels in Karbala are ready to receive millions of pilgrims expected to arrive for the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
According to the Karbala Directorate of Tourism, preparations include 522 classified tourist hotels and 230 popular hotels across the city. The directorate confirmed that the province has been divided into four administrative zones to facilitate coordination, supervision, and service delivery during the pilgrimage period.
Tourism Director Alawi Al-Daami stated that technical committees have been formed to monitor accommodation prices and ensure smooth reception of pilgrims. He noted that accommodation costs in Karbala would remain lower than those in other provinces, in line with a broader plan to ease the financial burden on visitors.
He added that civil defense units, backed by support teams from neighboring provinces, have been deployed at critical entry points to the city, including Bab Tuwairej and roads connecting Karbala to Najaf, to ensure safety and emergency preparedness. The city’s hotels are prepared to host international visitors from a diverse range of countries, including Gulf nations, India, Pakistan, Spain, and the United States.
In parallel, Karbala’s municipality has mobilized hundreds of vehicles and service teams to reinforce essential services and maintain public infrastructure throughout the pilgrimage. The Arbaeen pilgrimage marks the 40th day following the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and attracts tens of millions of pilgrims annually from Iraq and around the world.
