Tens of thousands of people marched across Sydney’s Harbor Bridge on Sunday calling for peace and humanitarian aid in Gaza, according to the Associated Press. Protesters braved heavy rain during the “March for Humanity,” organized by the Palestine Action Group, as food shortages and civilian suffering persist nearly two years into the war.

New South Wales Police estimated the crowd at 90,000, while organizers claimed up to 300,000 attended. Participants carried pots and pans to symbolize hunger and waved Palestinian flags. The protest was initially blocked by authorities over safety concerns but was allowed following a Supreme Court ruling.

A similar protest was held in Melbourne. Calls for a ceasefire have grown internationally, with countries like France and Canada recognizing Palestine. Australia has urged restraint but stopped short of formal recognition, despite increasing public pressure.
